Clinical Consultation

At Novel Minds Therapy, I offer clinical consultation for mental health professionals who are seeking collaborative, reflective, and growth-oriented support in their clinical work. Consultation is an essential part of ethical and sustainable practice, helping clinicians deepen their insight, enhance their therapeutic effectiveness, and maintain their own wellbeing. I use reflective practice to support clinicians in areas of neurodivergent affirming care, high conflict dynamics, and children/adolescents between the ages of 6 months to 18 years.

My Approach

My approach to clinical consultation is rooted in reflective practice — the ongoing process of slowing down, looking inward, and exploring the layers of meaning within our clinical work. I believe that how we think and feel as clinicians is just as important as what we do. Consultation provides a space to examine both, making room for deeper understanding, greater intentionality, and renewed connection to our professional values.

Through guided reflection, we explore:

  • The emotional and relational dynamics that emerge in clinical work

  • Patterns of transference and countertransference

  • Moments of uncertainty, stuckness, or curiosity

  • The interplay between personal identity and professional role

In addition to reflective dialogue, I incorporate psychoeducation to support evidence-based practice. This may include discussing current research, integrating clinical theory, or exploring practical tools drawn from modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed approaches, and attachment theory.

My goal is to bridge the reflective and the practical — helping clinicians not only understand their clinical experiences more deeply, but also translate that insight into effective, ethical, and evidence-informed care for their clients.

  • Clinical consultation is for mental health professionals — therapists, social workers, counselors, or other helping professionals — who are looking for a reflective and supportive space to discuss their clinical work. It’s not therapy or supervision, but rather a collaborative opportunity to deepen clinical understanding, explore case material, and sustain your growth as a practitioner.

  • Consultation can focus on:

    • Challenging or complex clinical cases

    • Relational or countertransference dynamics

    • Therapist identity and use of self

    • Integrating neurodivergent affirming care and/or trauma-informed approaches

  • I use the Green Bottle Method to guide payment for consultation. This approach offers a sliding scale based on your financial resources and level of privilege. You choose the rate that feels right for your circumstances — balancing fairness, accessibility, and sustainability. I’m happy to talk through the model with you during our initial consultation so please reach out!

  • If you’re not in a position to pay for consultation right now, I also welcome consultation exchanges with other clinicians. These are collaborative, mutual spaces where we can support one another’s professional development.
